This spindle was one of the first 10 I ever turned. Almost 4 years later, I still love using it. It has been modified over time. Narrowed the spinning tip. Because it is so light, it functions well as a suspended spindle held in the hand. What is this “suspended spindle held in the hand” business? The cap area is snapped with the fingers to introduce quick twist, it hangs from the thumb and rotates close to the fingers. The yarn is drafted across the body, horizontally.

The spindle does not drop. No need to butterfly the spun single (bringing the spindle upwards again, like a drop spindle) to wind on. Winding on is accomplished by supporting the spindle on your hip region, and turning for good tension and a well managed cop.
